Read the experience of one Hearing God participant below:
Recently
I visited a friend, who cares for horses. She took us out to the field to
be closer to the horses and just experience who they were. The horses were
beautiful to look at and they let us come up to them and stroke their
mane. They were calm and peaceful and seemed to enjoy the attention, but
you could tell that they had a presence about them that was freeing. One
of the horses, named Kairos, was very sure of himself. If a horse could
“strut” with pride, I think he certainly would do that. But there was so
much more to him. It was a place of assurance and confidence. We
stood back and just watched him for some time and then out of the blue, he raised
his head, with his nose up high and began to run. He ran circles around
the pasture and around us. He ran around his friend Tea, as if there was
nothing that was going to stop him. Kairos was running freely, enjoying
the land, the wind and the trees. You could see that he was full of joy and
nothing was going to keep him from expressing his freedom. It was absolutely
one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen.

As
I watched Kairos, I could see that was what God wants to do for us. We get
so bound up in the things in our lives that we forget about the freedom that
God has to offer us. It’s easy to get burdened down with the problems of
life. Those things can steal our joy and begin to choke us. Almost
as if we are wearing a heavy chain or harness around our body. But, when
we turn those things over to Him, He gives us the freedom to be exactly who He
created us to be. We can have the fullness of His joy and live freely
without burden and pain. He will take that yoke off of us. Galations 5:1
says it this way– “Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take
your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.’ (The
Message).
Today,
if you feel that your burdens are so heavy that you can’t move, turn your eyes
toward Heaven and tell Him that you want Him to fill you with His amazing joy.
